Baker & Taylor to Expand Commerce Facility Baker & Taylor, Inc.( 03/24/1999 )
Baker & Taylor Books will double the size of its Commerce distribution center.
"To meet the rapidly growing needs of libraries and booksellers in the Southeast, we are adding 100,000 square feet of capacity to the center," says Jim Ulsamer, president of Baker & Taylor Books. "The new capacity will enable us to increase significantly the breadth and depth of inventory at this location."
Much of the company's growth, he says, has come from greater awareness of Baker & Taylor as a reliable source with fast delivery, comprehensive fill rates, excellent customer service, and a growing variety of value-added services for libraries and booksellers.
"The major investment we undertook several years ago to upgrade our warehouse, order fulfillment, and purchasing system is paying off in improved reliability and service levels," Ulsamer reports. "Our customers have recognized this and are rewarding us with more business."
Baker & Taylor expects to complete the expansion this summer.
