New Chapter Ahead for Baker & Taylor Distribution Center Baker & Taylor, Inc.( 03/24/1999 )
Baker & Taylor Books announced plans today to expand its Commerce distribution center.
"In order to meet the rapidly growing business activity in the Southeast, we are adding 100,000 square feet of capacity to our Georgia distribution center," says Jim Ulsamer, president, Baker & Taylor Books. "This new capacity will enable Baker & Taylor to significantly increase the breadth and depth of inventory stocked at this location."
Much of the company's growth, he says, is a direct result of an increasing awareness of Baker & Taylor as a reliable source with next day delivery, comprehensive fill rates, and excellent customer service.
"The major investment we undertook several years ago to upgrade our warehouse, order fulfillment, and purchasing systems is paying off in improved reliability and service levels,' says Ulsamer. "Our customers have recognized this and are rewarding us with more business."
The expansion will double the size of Baker & Taylor's Commerce warehouse. The company expects to complete the expansion this summer.
