Baker & Taylor( 01/10/2000 )
In less than three months of operation, Baker & Taylor's online ordering function at its Web site, www.btol.com, has registered more than 1,500 users. On average, an order is placed every 10 minutes.
"We are amazed at the positive customer response we've seen since we launched our online ordering capability," noted Connie Koury, vice president of marketing for Baker & Taylor. "As more and more customers turn to the Internet to do business, we hope to see the number of registered users climb even higher."
Baker & Taylor launched it online ordering capability in October after testing the program with several customers. Customers can register for the free service at the company's Web site, www.btol.com. Once a customer registers for online ordering, the Web site offers the capability to search and select products by ISBN, UPC (universal product code), title, author, format or publication date; create and maintain a shopping cart; and send the order to Baker & Taylor via the Internet for immediate processing. Order confirmation is received shortly after sending an order. Customer's applicable discounts are applied to each order.
Also available to customers at no charge via the Web site is a price and availability checking function that verifies Baker & Taylor inventory availability and the price of books based on the customer's discount level. Customers can contact Baker & Taylor at 800-775-1800 to register for this service.
