Baker & Taylor and K-NFB Reading Technology Bring Blio to Dell Devices Baker & Taylor( 01/06/2011 ) For Immediate release
Baker & Taylor and K-NFB Reading Technology Bring Blio to Dell Devices CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Jan. 6, 2011 - Baker & Taylor, Inc., the world's largest distributor of physical and digital books and entertainment products, together with K-NFB Reading Technology, developer of the Blio e-reading application, today announced its Blio software will be incorporated on a wide range of Dell devices as part of Dell's innovative new Stage user interface. In addition, Blio is currently preloaded on Dell's newest device, the Inspiron duo - a revolutionary convertible tablet. "Our work with Dell underscores the significant growth of our network for digital media distribution and gives our publishers an incredible channel in which to market and sell their e-book content, which we're already seeing with the launch of the Inspiron duo," said Tom Morgan, CEO of Baker & Taylor. "We are thrilled to collaborate with Dell, which has a reputation around the globe for cutting-edge systems, innovative technology and integrated business solutions." "At Dell we're partnering with the best-of-the-best to provide the superior entertainment experience customers want," said Russ Ray, Dell Product Marketing Director. "With BookStage powered by Blio as part of our Stage interface, we're making it easy for our customers to read their favorite books on the go, with a full-color experience that wasn't possible a few years ago." Full-color enhanced content, as well as industry best-sellers, are now available as part of Dell's Stage user interface through an in-application retail storefront, called BookStage. Dell users now have an engaging, interactive e-reading experience right at their fingertips. Ray Kurzweil, founder of K-NFB Reading Technology, said, "Blio goes beyond standard e-readers by embracing the uniqueness and layout of each book. Rather than presenting a generic, simplified version, Blio preserves the character and hand-crafted feeling of holding a printed book in your hands. In this case, the content really is the difference." "Consumers are increasingly demanding enhanced full-color e-books across multiple categories of content, including children's books, lifestyle books, travel guides and cookbooks. We are proud that Blio can be their e-reading solution of choice," said Bob Nelson, President of Baker & Taylor's Digital Group. "Our integrated approach of connecting Blio to an in-application bookstore, carrying full-color content, as well as industry best-sellers, will enable Dell users to enjoy a seamless purchasing and e-reading experience." The Blio e-reading software application and BookStage storefront, featuring more than 1 million books, come preloaded on new Dell devices, including the new Inspiron duo, and are available for download on existing Dell devices.
