Gary Rautenstrauch Succeeds Craig Richards at Baker & Taylor Baker & Taylor, Inc.( 01/18/2001 ) Baker & Taylor, Inc., a leading full line book, video and music distributor, today announced Gary Rautenstrauch, Baker & Taylor's Chief Operating Officer, will succeed Craig Richards as President, effective immediately. Rautenstrauch will retain his title of Chief Operating Officer and will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company. Rautenstrauch joined Baker & Taylor 19 years ago and has served several leadership positions with increasing responsibility, including General Manager of the Momence, Ill. service center, Chief Technical Officer and President, Baker & Taylor Institutional, one of the company's two customer focused divisions. Rautenstrauch stated, "While Baker & Taylor will continue to face challenges in the future, Craig set the company on the right course for long-term success. Moving forward, we will continue to focus on our core competencies and concentrate our efforts to deliver value-added products and services to our customers." "Baker & Taylor has the strongest management team in the industry," Richards said. "This team has a clear understanding of where Baker & Taylor must head to remain a leader in the industry. With Gary's leadership, I am confident the company can realize the opportunities before it." Richards departs Baker & Taylor after nine years with the company, the past six years as CEO. All positions previously reporting to Richards will report to Rautenstrauch, including those in Informata.com, Baker & Taylor's business-to-business e-commerce unit that distributes electronic content, licenses database services and applications and creates Internet Portals hosting services tailored to target customers such as libraries, educational institutions and traditional and Internet retailers. Baker & Taylor, based in Charlotte, N.C., is a leading full line distributor of video, books and music to traditional and Internet retailers, libraries and educational institutions.
