Customized Library Services Helps Rewrite Book On Tennessee Library Opening Baker & Taylor, Inc.( 04/01/1999 )
Customized Library Services (CLS) helped make sure construction of Brentwood's new library had a happy ending.
"The technical know-how and can-do attitude of CLS were crucial to the on-time opening of the new library," said Gina Bradford, library director.
CLS is a unit of Charlotte-based Baker & Taylor, Inc., one of the world's largest distributors of information and entertainment services. It provides collection management support, cataloging services, technical processing, and consulting services to libraries worldwide.
Working as a team, CLS and the library's staff were able to complete on schedule the library's collection development and on-line cataloging of more than 10,000 pieces of material despite several obstacles.
"We were flexible enough to adjust and get things done, " said Bradford. "For instance, CLS stepped in to help recover all of the data lost from a computer crash. CLS became a true partner during construction and in planning for the opening. They were instrumental in keeping the project on track."
The new library is located at 8109 Concord Road, Brentwood.
